Text of the letter:
Dear _______________,
I am so sorry to hear of the health-related challenges your family has faced this year. And I am so proud of you for being so strong and brave!
I hope you know, though, that you don’t have to be tough all the time. It’s OK to be sad and it’s OK to cry. Even I cry sometimes. Yes, me, Santa Claus! My beard gets a little damp, but I feel so much better after. It’s not good to hide your feelings.
Please reach out to the grownups in your life if you need someone to talk to. A teacher, nurse or counselor at your school can help, too. Of course, you can write in your journal, or even send a letter to me, anytime. Sometimes it can make things better just getting your thoughts down on paper. You are loved!
Love,
Santa
